2024 in Review – A Year of Progress for Absentia
By Kieran - Founder
As we wrap up 2024, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on everything we’ve built, improved, and delivered at Absentia. Our mission has always been to take the pain out of managing time off — and this year, we doubled down on making our annual leave management software more powerful, user-friendly, and scalable for teams of all sizes.
We listened to customer feedback, anticipated growing team needs, and focused on delivering real value where it matters most. Below is a quick change log of some of the key upgrades we shipped in 2024.
Key improvements:
- 💼 Smarter Department Handling:
You can now select multiple departments for public holiday groups and clearly see which ones they apply to — even in the All Departments view. - 📅 More Visibility:
We now display all public holidays across departments and support upcoming leave reports via email. - ✅ Better Approvals:
We improved how secondary approvers are shown across the platform, so it's clear who’s responsible. - 🔐 Stronger Privacy:
If privacy mode is on and a user can't access other departments, they won’t see them at all. - 🎨 Customisation & UX:
A refreshed UI, custom user colours, and updated styles make everything cleaner and easier on the eyes. - 🚀 Performance Boost:
We migrated to more powerful servers to keep things fast and reliable. - 🛠️ Core Functionality Upgrades:
- Allowance accrual is now supported!
- Admins can enable new booking notifications.
- A manual invite link makes it easier to onboard teammates.
What's Next?
We’re doubling down on helping teams move beyond spreadsheets. If you’re still using an Excel template for leave tracking, it's time to switch to purpose-built annual leave software.
Thanks for being with us — and here's to a more organised year ahead.
